In the land of Morocco, in the ancient city of Marrakech, an historic gathering is planned between Christians and Muslims. Musicians from United States and Morocco will be performing on the same stage in a collective celebration for peace and tolerance.

>>> The Friendship Fest Story
>>> Humanitarian

This outdoor festival will be held just outside the beautiful gardens and old walls of Marrakech, the cultural capital of the Kingdom of Morocco. It is an enchanting rose-stuccoed city set amidst extensive palm groves and desert landscapes. The magnificent backdrop of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains will provide a breathtaking setting for three days of great music and colorful activities.

Plan now to join with thousands of others at FriendshipFest. The event is free and is sponsored by the city of Marrakech who would love you to attend. Quality hotels are available very near the festival site and transportation is readily available. Guns are outlawed in Morocco and the country has a well-deserved reputation for being safe for travelers.

Friendship Fest is part of a broader initiative to promote cross-cultural dialogue. Also taking place in Marrakech during Friendship Fest will be humanitarian efforts.

Morocco is located in Northwest Africa just south of Spain. It’s famous cities include Casablanca, Tangiers, Fes, Rabat, and Marrakech. Recently Morocco was named the top-rated Arab country for democracy in a recent study by Economist magazine. Many people do not realize that Morocco was the first country to recognize the newly-independent USA and that it has the longest unbroken Treaty of Friendship with Washington, dating to 1786. In addition the United States has designated Morocco a ‘major non-Nato ally’ in appreciation for Morocco’s support for the global war on terror, and a free-trade agreement has been signed between the two nations.

This is truly a historic event that has the potential to affect world events. The goals of the event are to use the universal language of music to bridge cultures and make friends. It will set a good example of religious tolerance by engaging in respectful dialogue and by confronting stereotypes on both sides that lead to extremist rhetoric. By loving our neighbors as ourselves, Christians and Muslims can be friends and live together in peace.
